Final blog

I think that blogs assignments are a good, funny and didactic tool to put in practice our writings skills. Writing a blog, is useful too to know our self. Other skill that I develop is learn to use few web tool, like blogger.

But I think that we can use other method, because we are doing blogs since English level 1, the better method to learn English is talking. Also, I think that English courses can be special for the career, in our case, an English in the politic thematic.

I think that in the future English as a subject should follow with dynamics and creative exercises. Maybe the students could do activities associated with their interests and with the career to have more vocabulary about “Public Administration”

I like very much the part of answers and question with a classmate. I think that we can make more discussion about contingency topics, like politic or other situations that are taking place in the country. I think too that we can do more activities about listening comprehension, like watch movies or documentaries.

Fiestas Patrias in Chile

When Napoleon Bonaparte invaded Spain and put in jail the Spaniard King, the colonies in America had no leader and the people decided to stablish provisional Governments until the king was released or the Spaniards send someone with new orders. But, after the first government, creoles realized that we can live without the command of a foreign country. When the order was restored in Spain, the king sent their armies to take control again in the colonies, here starts the war of independence.

Fiestas Patrias in Chile consists of two days: September the 18th, that commemorate the first Government in 1810, and the beginning of the path to the independence in eight years later, in February of 1918. And the second day is September the 19th that commemorate the "Day of the Glories of the Army".

The week of the Dieciocho have so much activities. Families eat barbecued, empanadas, choripanes and many kind of traditional food. Childrens play a lot of traditional games, like “trompo”, “palo encebado” and fly kites.

But the most important for the most of the people is to get drunk. You can go to the fondas to drink many of national alcoholic beverages, like chicha, vino, piscola (coca cola and pisco) or terremoto, the favourite drink of every one. Terremoto is a mix of pipeño (sweet wine), granadine and pineapple ice cream.

My favorite Band, Accept

My favorite band is called Accept’’. Accept is a German band from the town of Solingen, it was formed by vocalist Udo Dirkschneider in 1968.  The band was very popular in Germany, but it separated in 1997.

Accept have a reunion tour in 2005, but their separated again. Accept reunited again in 2009 with their new vocalist Mark Tornillo and released three new discs: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012) and Blind Rage (2014).

They play rock music, especially the genre call speed metal. Their instruments are the electric guitar (Wolf Hoffman and Herman Frank), bass guitar (Peter Baltes), Drums (Stephan Schwarzman) and vocals (Mark Tornillo). They have fourteen studio albums.

My favorite song is metal heart, and was first song that I heard of the band in a cassette that belong to my dad. I have the opportunity to been in a concert two years ago, in teatro caupolican and was a very amazing concert. I’m a fan of the band and I have the three last disc, a cassette, shirts and a hooded.

Lenin, father of the Russian revolution

The idea of Leader is associated to politic. A good leader have the capacity to lead other people to the achievement of political ideas.

Vladimir Ilich Ulianov “Lenin”, was the father of the Russian revolution and the man that leads the workers and peasants to the successes of the revolution.

The factors that he used in his speeches, such as equality was great for him, the people of Russia loved the fact that he seemed to care about equality.

He was always thinking of his people, promoting new laws to improve the lives of the lower classes, which had never been done before, giving them better wages in the factories, better working conditions and lives.

Lenin was a modest man, and did not have any personal ambition. He was impulse for the idea to make a better world. He restored equality and put Russia in the modern age, a country very backward country before the revolution. He also to end the Russia's involvement in the World War One.

Many politics promotes the socialist ideal, but Lenin was one of few of them who made it real and put it into practice. He ran the country in the name of the workers, a country with no classes and no discrimination.

War in Eastern Ukraine

The article that I choose it’s about the crisis in Ukraine. Is a very interesting article for those that like international relations and history. This is an interview to a Russians soldier that be injured in combats with rebels of the People´s Republic of Donetsk against the Ukrainian army.

The soldier´s testimony says about how supposedly the Russian army are cooperating with Russian rebels in Ukraine, how their send weapons and men.

This conflict starts in 2014 after the deposition of the president Viktor Yanukovych by the strong repression against riots in Kiev. The new government, in favor of European Union and United States takes an anti-Russian policy. Added to this, arise many fascist movements in Ukraine. For this, the habitants of the province of the Crimean peninsula (mostly Russian), made a referendum to independence from Ukraine and to be part of Russia.

Following the example of Crimea, the Ukrainian provinces of Donetsk and Lugansk takes the same action. But the Ukrainian government don’t accept and sent troops to take control over these province. This results in a rebel organization of Russians habitants in Ukraine and the start of a civil war.

The situation today is very delicate. This situation brought a diplomatic confrontation between United States and Russia, like in the years of the cold war, for the hegemony over the ex-soviet republics.

Future Job

I am studying public administration. In this career we learn about Political science and public management. We are learning to about the functioning of the State and the services that the states give to people. This career prepare State Officials

I’m going to be a public administrator, so I can work in many thing. A Public administrator works at the public sector, in ministries and many others public services that depends of central government. Also we can work in local governments or offices near users, at legislative power and judicial system. A public administrator also can work in the private system, as consulting or advising, but it´s not the essence of the career.

But I would like to work like diplomat. Be diplomat in Chile is so hard, first, you have to go to a special school for diplomats and the requirement is to have a professional tittle. Public administration is compatible with this career. This is a beautiful career, you have to travel for the world, go to different countries, learn different languages and know different cultures. If I can´t be a diplomat, in my priorities are work in ministries of foreign matters, defense or interior.

For the nature of the job, I going to work indoor in buildings. And in the building, depends the position, you have your own office or a cubicle.

Movement for Education

This Thursday, the Confederation of Chilean Students (CONFECh) convened to a protest in Santiago Downtown with purpose of requiring changes in the educational reform of the government. The call to protest it´s a support too to de Teacher’s national strike.

But, the movement for education it´s not something new, and obey to historical demands. When the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet ends, in the last day, they approve the organic law of education (LOCE). This law would propitiate the outbreak of the Chilean education movement in 2006, the most powerful social movements of the last years.

The movement of 2006 it was the base of the rising of numerous social movements, each one with their own demands unimaginable half century ago. This movements came to dispute the conservative foundations of our society.

Our generation are disputing the institutions and the slow legislative progress faced to a fast social changes. However, the repeated refusal of the successive governments are worsened the situation and high the distrusts against their.

Icon of this movements is the revival of the movement for education in 2011. This movement are aiming at a free and quality education. We are many in favor of these demands, but the authorities don’t hear us. So, we have to appeal to the street protest as the last resource to make us hear.

The Metal Gods: Judas Priest and Motorhead

I went to many concerts in my life: Iron Maiden (2009), Megadeth (2012), Accept (2013), Megadeth with Black Sabbath (2013). But the most recently was the last Tuesday: Motörhead with Judas Priest, both bands are classics of Rock from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, both band promoting their new album: Redeemer of Souls and After Shock.

Judas Priest was founded in Birmingham in 1969 and is leaded by the vocalist Rob Halford, who at his 63 years old still singing like in the 80’. The other members are Glenn Tipton (guitars), Richie Faulkner (Guitars), Ian Hill (Bass guitar) and Scott Travis (Drums).

Motörhead was founded in London in 1975 by the vocalist and bass guitarist Lemmy Kilmister. The other members are Phill Campbell (Guitars) and Mikkey Dee (Drums).

The concert started with a not well known Chilean band called Inquisición, who gained the heart of the spectators with their old sound like the bands from the 80’. Then, was the turn of Motörhead and people went mad, they started to jump, to push other people, to scream and burn flares.

The hits and the heavy air was so disgusting, so, I don´t enjoy Motörhead so much. But, when was the time for Judas Priest, the metal gods, and people were a little quiet.

The concert was ended at midnight, and was a hard trip to go back home.

Paris, hero of Troy

Paris was an historical person, son of Priam and Hecuba, the kings of Troy. Paris appears in many legends of the ancient Greece about the Trojan War.

The legend told that Paris kidnaped the Spartan king’s wife, Helen, in a diplomatic mission. The kings of Greece respond to help their allies and form and army to take back Helen.

In the coast of Troy, starts a bloody war. But the Spartan king´s, Menelaus, send a diplomatic mission to take back his wife and stop the bloodbath offering a duel to Paris.

The winner of this duel can keep Helen as her new husband. Paris was afraid and easily defeated by Menelaus, but Aphrodite take out Paris of combat. This violation of the agreement supposes the restart of the war.

Latter, Paris was the responsible for kill Achilles, hero from Greece, with a poisoned arrow in his weak spot. But Paris, apparently for accident, stab the arrow himself and dying a couple of hours after.

Moscow

When I earn my own money, the first country that I want to visit is Russia. Russia is the biggest country in the world, but it´s not hard to travel because there is a few cities in the country. The main cities in western Russia are Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Ufa, Volgograd and the enclave of Kaliningrad. In the Far East, is the city of Vladivostok.

I would like to visit Russia because their soviet past catch my attention. Specially Moscow, have a big heritage of the Soviet Union.  The main attraction of this City is the Red Square, in this square you can find the old red fortification from the mediaeval age “Kremlin”, and it’s the actual Government Palace. There is too the Lenin´s Mausoleum, Saint Basils Cathedral. In the Red Square, every year its take place the big military parade, in commemoration of the World War II ends.

Other attraction of Moscow is the Metro. The metro was built in the 30’, and every station was built as bombs shelter. The station also have paintings and sculptures. Each station is a museum.

Other soviet remain are the seven sisters, seven skyscraper built in the last years of Stalin. Each buildings have a big red star in the top. In one of these buildings is the State University of Moscow, the Lomonosov University.

I would like to study international relations in Lomonosov University and live in Russia only those years. The city is very cold and I couldn’t live there.
